This is my original design, hand-painted with acrylic paints on a 51% beeswax candle. For centuries, the Pelican has been depicted in Catholic art as a symbol of the Eucharist and Christ’s sacrificial love for us. How perfect, since the Paschal Candle itself represents the Light of Christ entering a world darkened by sin.
The legend of the Pelican first appears in the Physiologus - a 2nd century collection of stories which connect observations of the natural world to our Catholic Faith. One of the most enduring is the Pelican which seemed to wound itself and feed its baby chicks with its own blood. Ever since, the image of the Pelican has been used as a symbol of Christ in Catholic churches, manuscripts, and artwork all over the world.
Incense grains will be provided with the candle.
The price of the blank candle is included in the total cost, since I will need to purchase it from my supplier. Blank paschal candles cost $75-$510, depending on the size! Please contact me if you have a blank paschal candle you wish to provide.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or requests regarding your candle! May God bless you!

Our Paschal Candle this year looks wonderful. We choose a rather simple design, but the painted candle is a nice change from the normal wax designs you see from large companies. A bonus is the paint does not leave marks on anything that touches it like many more common wax designs.
